Hi! Welcome to my site. This site features smooth jazz guitar and straight ahead jazz guitar CDs and lessons. I’ve also included several articles on music, smooth and straight ahead jazz guitar playing, and improvisation. And some musical anecdotes which I hope you find amusing and inspirational. I’ve done my best to make the site easy to travel through, and I hope you enjoy it.
Smooth Jazz is a fairly broad genre these days – it encompasses a lot of different types of music, and means different things to different people. What does it mean to me? For me, smooth jazz paints pictures; the way you feel waking to freshly fallen snow; a babbling brook, ebbing and flowing around floating leaves; the delighted shrieks of a happy child taking his first steps.
Ideas can be expressed in music and, as you can tell, smooth jazz is a form of artistic expression I hold dear to my heart - a portal for expression of my inner self. Smooth jazz has the harmonic and melodic sophistication of hard core jazz, but is tempered by the simplicity of pop music, thus giving the artist a platform from which to communicate his art to a wide variety of musical tastes.
